With the new (2-berth) dock the cruise port now has berthing capacity of 3 of the world's largest passenger ships (of RCI's Oasis-class) simultaneously. In 2018 started construction works on Port Zante's new (second) cruise pier which was completed in 2019 and officially opened in November. These vessels were RCI-Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas, Princess Cruises Regal Princess, AIDA Cruises AIDAluna, Marella Cruises Marella Discovery, and also the mega-yacht SeaDream (docked at Nevis Island). Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Tivanna Wharton, conveyed her appreciation to the Executive Committee led by Chairman Allister Williams, for their outstanding work thus far in the preparatory stages of the upcoming mega event in June. Preliminary work has also begun well ahead of schedule at the Warner Park Stadium, the historic venue where the Festival will take place. The festival committee has placed a strong emphasis on improving parking arrangements this year and the use of the former high school site is part of this effort. ![]() The Parks and Beaches Unit is currently hard at work clearing the grounds of the former Basseterre High School which will serve as a spacious and convenient parking lot for the upcoming St Kitts Music Festival.
